  20. 1. PROGRAM DESCRIPTION AND BUG REPORTS

This is a DEMO version of "My Multiplications 1.0".  With this program, you can practice your mulitiplication skills.  However, to encourage you to order the full version, only the Ones, Twos, Fives, Tens, and Elevens times tables are available to you in this DEMO version.  To order the full version, print, cut, complete, and mail the order form found at the end of this document with your full payment.

Now, here's how the program works.  When you get the right answer to a multiplication problem, you receive a congratulatory, textual remark on-screen.  If you miss a problem, you can choose to try again and again until you get it right, or you can choose to see the correct answer and proceed to the next problem.  Upon completing each table, you will hear a portion of a tune played as a celebratory conclusion.  If you need to quit the program in the middle of practicing a table, simply press the ESC key then the ENTER key and follow the on-screen instructions.  NOTE:  For this function to work, however, make sure your CAPS and NUM LOCK keys are OFF during the program's operation.

  29. 2. INSTALLATION PROCEDURES

Once you've downloaded the self-extracting zip file, XDEMO10.EXE, onto your hard drive, create a directory named XTABLES, then move the XDEMO10.EXE file to that directory and double-click it to unzip it.  When the unzip process is complete, double-click the README.TXT file to learn more about "My Multiplications 1.0 DEMO", including how to order the full version of "My Multiplications 1.0".

  34. 3. RUNNING "MY MULTIPLICATIONS 1.0 DEMO"

  36. You may choose to run "My Multiplications 1.0 DEMO" in either of three ways:  
  37.  
  38. First, go to the DOS prompt, change directories to the one where you installed "My Multiplications 1.0 DEMO", then type in the word XDEMO, and the program will start automatically for you.  
  39.  
  40. Second, you may start "My Multiplications 1.0 DEMO" from within Windows either by choosing Run from the Start menu (in Win95) and typing in the directory and filename or by double-clicking XDEMO.EXE (the executable file for "My Multiplications 1.0 DEMO") in either Windows Explorer (Win95) or File Manager (Win3.x).  Once you start the program, just follow the on-screen instructions to continue.

Third, you may start File Manager (Win3.x) or Windows Explorer (Win95), then resize its window so that you can see a vacant space on your computer's on-screen desktop (Win95).  For Win3.x, create/choose a Program Group into which to place an icon for "My Multiplications 1.0 DEMO".  Next, "drag and drop" the XDEMO.EXE file onto your desktop/Program Group to create an icon shortcut.  Double-click the shortcut to start the program.

  45. 4. WARRANTY DISCLAIMER

While every effort has been made to insure this program is virus-free and error-free, this program is issued to the end-user on an "as is basis" and without warranty of any kind.  The end-user agrees to use this program at his/her own risk and discretion, and the end-user agrees not to hold the author/programmer/distributor (Michael L. White), or anyone related to him, liable in any way for any damage incidental to using this program.

  50. 5. PROGRAM DISTRIBUTION

This DEMO version of "My Multiplications 1.0" may be freely distributed without charge either to individuals or bulletin boards or by any other means as long as it is unaltered from its original form and this README.TXT file is also included.  This is preferably done by zipping both "My Multiplications 1.0 DEMO" and the README.TXT file into one compressed file named XDEMO10.  This zip file may be either dependent on an unzipping utility such as Pkzip or in a self-extracting zip file.  Refer all questions about this program or its distribution to the author at the address listed in paragraph six below.

Only 3.5" 1.44Mb high density floppy disk media is available for shipping "My Multiplications 1.0".  Don't forget to enclose your payment with your order.  Since I am a one-man operation, please allow up to four weeks for delivery by US Mail.  For faster delivery, you may choose to order by email.  However, I will not email your program until I receive your correct payment.  Alabama residents MUST include 4% state tax with their orders.  Insufficient payment will delay shipment or emailing of your order, so insure accuracy of your payment before mailing.  Remember, if ordering by email, do NOT include Shipping and Handling charges to your total payment.  I will refund overpayments to you, less the cost of a money order and postage, provided you furnish a viable address.
